ASUS VivoBook S14 Goes Beyond the Edge: Takes me too! #BeyondTheEdge #AsusIndia #VivobookS14

In the process of selecting a laptop there are so many things to be considered but there are two things that are most important : performance and portability. And unfortunately these are the two things that never come together in a laptop. If a laptop is light and very portable then it will be mediocre in performance and if it's a high performance laptop then portability would must have been thrown out of the window.

So, this is a conundrum that has hounded every laptop buyer at some point or another. But for me the problem has finally been solved by the ASUS VivoBook S14. Fine folks at ASUS have addressed the problem and have brought out a product that is a perfect blend of performance and portability.

The laptop I am currently using is a hp 2014 model. Yes I know its quite ancient by today's standards and therefore I have named it grandpa. :D We will use our "grandpa" to set things in perspective so that we get it in context when we compare our ASUS VivoBook S14 to our grandpa.

An ideal laptop must have good performance, great battery life, nice display and must be lightweight but it's almost impossible to find a machine which packs all these qualities in itself but our ASUS VivoBook S14 has got all these and other added bonus features too.

Looks and Display

Just look at the display. Isn't it awesome. Go through your memory lane and try to remember any laptop which had bezels this thin. Nothing comes to mind. Right? Thanks to ultrathin bezel of NanoEdge Display that ASUS has managed to put 14 inch full HD screen in a 13 inch frame and with 78.5 % screen to body ratio thus making it ultra portable. It has also got the anti-glare feature which means no more harm to my eyes.

While My laptop has extra thick bezels and working on it for more than 2 hours makes my eyes cry. The slim design of ASUS VivoBook S14 at just 14.8 mm coupled with this beautiful display surely makes this laptop a headturner.

Light as Feather

Whenever I have to go out I think ten times whether I will carry my laptop with me or not because my laptop weighs whopping 2.9 Kilograms. Yes, literally 2.9 Kilograms, imagine the pain my shoulders bear when I have my laptop in my backpack.

But our ASUS VivoBook S14 weighs just 1.2 Kgs. Yes, you heard that right, just 1.2 kgs. So light that your shoulders won't even feel the weight. So, now I can carry my work anywhere I want without even noticing that I am carrying such a powerhouse in my backpack. Kudos ASUS.

Blazing Fast Performance

ASUS VivoBook S14 is not just about looks and aesthetics. The power it packs will blow away my laptop (grandpa :D) by miles away and any other laptop in the segment for that matter.

The VivoBook S14 has got the latest Intel core i5 processor at its heart coupled with 8GB ram and 256GB superfast SSD. Now this is what we call a perfect example of beauty and brains. If you are a working professional

On the other hand, my old grumpy "grandpa" has got ailing first generation core i3 processor with 3GB  ram and mechanical 5400rpm (not even 7200rpm) 320GB hard disk. And do I need to say anything about overheating? Well all I will say is I don't need a room heater in winter when I have my laptop on my lap. Fine folks at ASUS have taken care of this aspect too since it is directly related to our comfort and performance. ASUS IceCool technology keeps the VivoBook S14 at comfortable temperature at all loads thus giving a smooth experience.

Battery Battery life is most important deciding factor coming second only to performance. And here too ASUS has done a splending job. Now I can use my laptop for extended periods of time without fiddling with the charging wire. And also we have got fast charging feature which brings the battery to 60% in mere 49 minutes. What more can we ask for?

Since we are talking about battery, let's also take a peak at our grandpa. I have changed my laptop's battery twice in last 4 years but still in just under 2 hours I have to frantically search for my charging wire.

So, with the ASUS VivoBook S14 I can now rest in peace that I can take it with me wherever I go without worrying about the remaining battery and no need to hunt for power plugs at coffee shops. :)

Some other Features

  • Unlike my old laptop, ASUS VivoBook S14 has got a backlit keyboard. What a treat in the night.

  • With ASUS VivoBook S14 I no longer worry about somebody unauthorized accessing my laptop because unlike my old laptop VivoBook S14 comes with integrated touchpad fingerprint sensor which works seamlessly with Windows Hello. Security at its best.

  • Asus SonicMaster is a big thumbs Up for the audhiophiles out there.
  • With USB 3.1 Type C, Micro HDMI, Micro SD Card among host of other connectivity options, keep all your peripherals connected without missing even a single one.

Final Words

In my opinion the USP of ASUS VivoBook S14 is the performance and portability which I mentioned at start of the blog. Sleek and beautiful for a business professional while portable and powerful for a creative user. It gives us best of the both worlds. Therefore it goes beyond the edge, outperforms all the others and makes me stay at the top of my creativity.

Best programming language to learn

Are you confused that which programming language to learn as a beginner? Well, many people will recommend visual basic, basic, java and many other languages. Because a very few will recommend C. Most common excuse people have is that C is hard to learn, does not support object oriented programming (OOP) and it's no point learning C when there a much advanced and improved versions like C++.
But if you study it's history then you will find the importance of learning C. It is the base of all the most popular programming languages like C++, C# and Java. What is C++? It is just an extended version of the great C language with more new features added. According to my experience of 10 years of programming, if you have mastered C, then all other languages are just a matter of time. You will not have to make any extra effort to learn these languages.
If we look at the C language scopewise then I have heard many people arguing that now no company asks you if you know C but they ask, "Do you know C++, C# or Java? But believe me, in the real practice if you go to an interviewer and tell him that you are a master of C then there are 99% chances that he will hire you because he knows that if I know C then C++ or C# are not big things. Most of the most modern operating systems are written in C because operating system needs to be fast and C is praised for fast execution speed.
There are thousand of advantages of learning C. I give it the award "Best Programming Language". So, if I have convinced you to learn C then read on.
When I was learning C, I was very confused that which book should I pick up and after long research I finally came to the book "Let us C" by Yashwant kanetkar.
This is a wonderful book for all levels of learners. It starts with the very basics of the C language and gradually gives you more heavy weight so you don't feel lost. It makes C as simple as BASIC language. Mr. Kantekar (the author of "Let us C") is a professional and has received several prestigious awards.

I can give you the download link for the book but sadly it's fifth edition so I suggest you to buy the latest edition. You can buy this book from any good book seller or leading computer book shop.

Freeware to recover permanently deleted files

There are many softwares out there to help you recover permanently deleted files but the problem is that most of them are highly priced like one of the good one is stellar phoenix but its costly. So today I am going to tell a freeware which almost equals stellar phoenix without having any cost - Piriform Recuva.
This is a very simple yet effective solution.

You can see circles with green, orange and red color before file names in the image above. What do they mean is that the file with red circle is unrecoverable, file with orange circle is in poor state while the file with green circle is in excellent state and can be fully recovered. You can also preview the files which are in excellent state. It also tells you which file has overwritten the file you want to recover.
The interface is quite simple. Type the filename and select a specific or all drives and hit scan. Then check the files which you want to recover and then hit the button recover at the right bottom corner in program window.

NOTE:- If you are unable to recover some of your important files then you might need much powerful software so to get the registered version of Stellar Phoenix email me at matneo123@yahoo.com.
